HTC Touch Diamond Review
HTC Touch Diamond smart phone is a beautiful sight to behold, with a beautiful black finish and a bright vibrant display that dominates the front it simply shines, it certainly is a phone that you want to be seen with.So does its other features make it worth the money and a potential purchase?
Aesthetics
HTC Touch Diamond is remarkably compact for a smart phone. It is only 11 mm thick and weighs in at only 110 g so at least you don't feel like your carrying a brick in your pocket all day. It comes with a 2.8 inch screen that simply swamps the front of the phone, with four keys and a command button located just below. The back of the device has a glossy almost prismatic design that gives it that extra bit of style.
Usability
When switching on the HTC Touch Diamond for the first time you you are left with a good 20 seconds waiting on the phone to boot, while certainly not life ending it can be quite annoying. However once the display is finely lit up all is forgiven as you take in the stunningly beautiful icon designs and animation effects. This HTC Touch Diamond makes use of HTC's patented touch TouchFLO 3D technology and while working on Windows Mobile 6.1 professional the display is strikingly similar to the Apple iPhone. Certainly however the Apple IU forward and does a better job of making use of touchscreen technology, this HTC Touch Diamond has all its icons far too close together for an average man's fingers however as stylus is included as recommended for normal use.
Features and Performance
This HTC Touch Diamond has a smorgasbord of features, such as, HSDPA, WiFi and HSUPA so it is equally as quick in uploading as downloading. For web browsing you are provided with Opera 9.5 and Internet Explorer. However you will find yourself only using but at 9.5 due to its functionality in automatically resizing web content so that it fills the whole screen, simply tapping the screen twice in any area you wish to view and zoom in. There's also a 3.2 megapixel camera included, however many features found on other similar phones were missing which was disappointing. People travel a lot and a rather clever weather application can provide constant updates for any location you choose even down to specific counties. The HTC touch Diamond also features A-GPS, Mapping software does need to be bought separately, however it does come with Google maps embedded in the device thus making use of GPS and Google maps you truly could never get lost.
HTC touch Diamond does not offer any expandable memory options but it does come included with 4 GB of internal memory, this does fall short of the Apple iPhone's 8 GB and 16 GB offerings. However unlike many other phones in this class, this HTC touch Diamond allows true multitasking and the use of multiple programmes at any one time by minimising them as you would on the PC or Apple Mac. This must be used with discretion however as opening to many programmes does comes with a large performance hit.
Advantages
Good-looking phone with a large army of features despite being small.
Disadvantages
Touchscreen does not work as effectively as other touchscreen phones.
Conclusion
This HTC Touch Diamond Review can be summed up like a sports car, beautiful to look at, powerful, but unfortunately not the easiest to handle. While most manufacturers are looking to get out touchscreen phones nowadays they certainly should take care in the usability that goes with it.
